A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Jim attended Point Park College and earned a BA in Political Science. In 1976, he earned his J.D. from California Western School of Law. Jim then moved to central West Virginia where he provided legal counsel to clients as a solo practitioner for 15 years. Jim established himself as a prominent leader in legal community. He served as an Assistant Prosecutor, became active on Disability law and mental health law. Jim moved his practice to Charles Town, WV in 1991 and established Kratovil Law Office. In 2003, he partnered with Aaron Amore to form Kratovil & Amore, PLLC
Jim lives in Charles Town, WV with his wife Bonnie Kratovil who is a retired family court judge. Jim enjoys hiking, golf, biking, poker and reading and is a enthusiastic fan of the 2006 Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
